It's always an adventure! Life of an artist while raising and releasing daughters. Memories, current happenings, short stories. My mistakes and triumphs along the way.

Inspirations #2
This really has turned into a glorious day!~
No plans turned into doing what I do...
Ran Hil her lunch and dinner as she is working late.
While I was out, I stopped at BN.
I am in between Bible studies
and one was mentioned this weekend by two friends.
Could not find God's Divine Appointments anywhere...
unless that's not the name.
Instead I found Praying Dangerously.
My prayer life has been in a bit of a slump recently
and I needed something to kick me into gear.
I also found a book about artfully praying.
Going to give this a try.
Off to Hobby Lobby and armed with colored pencils,
sharpy pen, blank notebook, and basket to hold all the junk.
I'll let you know how it works out.
While in the store, a little boy, Brandon, wandered off.
I know this because I heard his mommy yelling for him,
more frantically as the time went.
She found him.
I discovered them as I left Hobby Lobby.
She was holding Olivia....maybe 3, and Brandon...maybe 4
did not want to leave.'
I could tell she was at her wits end, when she told him,
"fine...you can just stay here then."
As she dropped her phone and it broke into four pieces,
I held the door open for her.
I told her it didn't get much easier with 22 and 24 year olds.
Wished her a good day and I hoped she had a restful evening.
She smiled weakly.
She told Olivia not to lean back in her arms,
to which Olivia hit her mommy.
Mommy hit Olivia back and told her that we do not hit.
Brought a smile to my face, remembering the days so long ago.
God is so good all of the time.
I was even given a free Caramel Frappacinno when I got my coffee this morning!
Blessed
Inspired
I am inspired today.
A great workout at the gym...
oh how I hate the gym!
My care team will be giving out cookies at church
March 18th, so I am busily planning that event!
Yummy soups for the stuffing party before the give out.
I am reading inspiring blogs about
rug hooking, spring, writers, and wool!
I have been spinning some lovely core spun yarn.
The sun is shining and we are again having some unusual weather.
High temps, thunderstorms, chilly days.
I am eagerly awaiting gardening days,
and already have to transplant some plants
that have bloomed beyond their pots.
Chuck and I are enjoying every bit!
Just feeling very blessed today!
Hope you are too.

Sledding in Colorado
We went sledding in Colorado. The grandbabies and step son have never seen snow,
let alone, slid down a hill!
I have always LOVED to go sledding,
but the past few years I have been terrified to,
as I have had major disc problems,
and didn't want to mess anything up on vacation!
HOWEVER: I went down twice!
Once on a piece of plastic,
which was as close to a garbage bag as I could get..
my favorite way to slide,
and second, after I climbed the hill with the camera....
why I did this, I'll never know,
because the only way I could get the carmera back down
was to wrap it in my coat and slide down in the saucer,
hoping to not crash and break said camera.
All turned out well!
Terry even went down once!
Mostly I took video, cause it was just so darn much fun,
but here are a few photos.
I'll try to get a video or two up,
however.....as I've said before...
I suck at technology!
Enjoy!

Pagosa Springs Colorado
The second night of our vacation,
Joe, Hilary and I went to one of the three hot springs spas.
No one else was interested or brought a bathing suit.
They really missed out.
It was a whopping 13 degrees when we went.
We bought our admission, rented towels and a locker,
and changed in the changing area.
We met Joe just outside the doors.
BRRRRRR
And the smell of rotten eggs was everywhere.
Ahhh minerals out of the earth!
We hurried over to the main pool, that had a hot tub in the middle.
Hilary jumped into the deserted tub while Joe and I settled our shoes.
Hilary screamed.
It was 84 degrees in the water.
Joe and I got into the pool, and it was very chilly.
The kids wanted to finish their beers,
so as the chugged with with chattering teeth,
I put my shoes on, wrapped myself with the tiny little towel
and began to explore.
There were 23 different areas in the spa
all with different temperatures and themes surrounding them.
I went through the area,to the opposite end, where it was adult only.
After getting into the gate, and looking around,
I could not open the gate again to leave.
Someone, near the fire pit, eventually helped me with the code to leave.
By this time, I was chilled to the bone.
I went back to find Hil and Joe.
They had just gotten out of the pool and were making their way to me.
We met at another pool that registered 103 degrees.
As we were all so cold,
we disrobed and slid into the steamy water.
Wow! Did that every feel nice!
There were two women in the tub with us,
and another couple joined a few minutes later.
We began a nice conversation,
as the women live near by,
and the couple came here often from California.
About that time, one of the women stood up and looked over to another pool.
She excitedly said that the group that was there, were leaving.
All seven of us stood up at the same time,
and en mass moved tot he 106 degree pool.
Heaven.
It had a little water fall with very hot water!
A woman and her son came and joined us,
and I learned that she worked as a massage therapist at the spa.
She told all about the mother spring where all the hot water came from.
140 degrees!
She told us that Guiness Book of World Records
just added Pagosa Springs this year,
as the worlds deepest natural hot springs.
They measured 1,200 feet.
And only that deep because that was as long
as the string was that they brought to measure with!
After a while we decided to explore the rest of the spa.
Even though our towels were frozen solid,
and we couldn't put our shoes on any longer,
we hiked around the spa.
They had sprinkled salt onto the sidewalks, as it had turned to ice,
and you couldn't hold onto the the railings
for fear of your hands getting frozen to them.
Joe kept jumping into every pool we passed as his feet were freezing.
Lucky me, as feet can't feel temperature differences at all!
Hil and Joe tested out the 110 degree pond, and I stuck to 105-107.
After some intense negotiation by Joe,
we were able to enter the adult only area that we had paid for,
but had not been given the code or correct wristband.
It was so quiet and warm!
It was about 10:30 pm by this time and we were so relaxed!
Hilary discovered a a waterfall in the pool beside the current one,
and off she went.
As she went through and behind the falls,
I thought that her hair would turn green.
Joe informed me he had read that neither hair nor skin would change color,
but that the minerals would tarnish silver.
I looked at my wedding rings and sure enough,
they were black!
hahahahahaha!
We made our way across a pond on a wooden bridge,
then up to the very top two pools.
I cannot express to you how wonderful this entire night was.
The sky was black and there were more stars than I have ever seen.
That is, if you could see through the steam rising off of the spa and pools.
What a magical time and place this is.
I floated until I almost dozed off.
I felt totrally at peace and loved and cared for.
No one caught a cold!
Which is a miracle in it self.
Next time, I may have to experience these hot springs
in the spring or fall, and during daytime.

Banana babies!
Just a few picks of the Grandbabies
from vacation in Pagosa Springs CO
At first they seemed a little shy...
then we couldn't keep them out of the snow!
They didn't even wait to put coats and shoes on!
They have never seen snow....
they live in TX near Corpus Christi
OH.....getting ready for skiing the next day,
found lots of wild hats!
Snow angels!
Ski lessons for the wolf pups.
Brittany took right to it,
Beau hated every minute.
Papa Terry hung with them tho,
the whole day, while I ran around the hills
taking pics of everyone else skiing and snowboarding.
What a trooper!
Brittany's 7th birthday will be in 6 days!
So we had a party!
The hat I made for her...she loves horses!
Fist bump for great snow ice cream on our last morning!
Thumbs up for the snow ice cream
Adding milk and sugar and vanilla!
A little taste test...
she said it tasted like BBQ
I am so blessed.....I love them so!
Ballard family vacation!
We all arrived home safely
after a five day vacation in
Pagosa Springs Colorado.
There were ten of us all together,
and it was the best time I have ever had!
I got to play with my grandbabies,
spend time with Terry's son and his wife,
(whom I adore!)
both V and Hil came with their boys.
Everyone did what they wanted to,
and no one had their feelings hurt!
(I behaved well,
thank you all very much for your prayers!)
The trip there was ok,
the trip back was very long!
Colorado is Beeeaaaauuuutiful!
A six hour drive from Denver to Pagosa Springs,
then shuttles to airport, car rental,
parking, and to and from Chicago Ohare!
We arrived home at 5 am after leaving the house at 10 am.
Joe drove us the whole way!
I am so thankful for him and his tireless humor!
I will be sharing stories and photos as the week goes!
So glad to be home.
Chuck is fine.
My daddy took really good care of him.
So looking forward to continuing this tradition,
practically we will vacation together every other year.
I am so very, very blessed!

Randomness
I finally turned up the heat to 71.
65 was just not getting it today with 10 small degrees outside.
And now it has begun to snow again.
Very pretty, light clumps of snow.
I like this kind.
Have been knitting on a few things and thought I'd share.
Here is a hat I mad for the granddaughter for her bday.
7!
How time flies!
She loves horses!
Hil is modeling.

Notice Hil's laundry and my coupons in the background? LOL
Here are the grandbabies in their snow suits I sent.
They look a bit warm as they are in southern Texas now.
Hopefully Colorado will be nice and chilly for them!
My daddy turned 73 at the end of January.
Not the best of pics, as he is usually smiling very cheesy at the camera.
Guess he was concentrating on his birthday gifts.
Love that man so much!
I finally got my spinning wheel out,
spinning some really yummy core spun;
Chuck gathered all his toys at my feet,
before realizing I was not going to play.
Then he lay down for a bit.
Hil was in charge of games for a baby shower.
Can you guess which candy bar is melted in this diaper?
Gross!
Beau in his khaki hat I knit him for Christmas
Brittany in her mom's hat.
Mistaken identity I suppose.
I have been following the Daniel diet
which basically is fruit veggies, water and grains.
No sugar, coffee, dairy, meats etc.
After the first three days, my headache went away.
I cheated a bit for Super Bowl, but not much.
Since then I have had a few coffees, and a bit o sugar.
If anything, I have come to realize how good my body feels
without all the crap!
Joining anytime fitness when I get home from vacation.
Just can't get the cardio I need walking Chuck in the snow.
Looking forward to some changes!
Here is a pair of knee highs I have been working on for Hil.
The next photos show different ways to wear them...
high boot, or cuffed way down!
They are really really warm.
here is the cable on the back center.
And finally a bearded hat I made for Bernard!
Now Daddy wants one in white!
One of the girly girls is getting married,
and we are planning a shower for her
when I get home from vacation!
Really excited about this,
as she has left the door open to all gifts!
Who knows what these church ladies will come up with!
So, I will continue working on her gift,
packing for Colorado and chasing black birds from my feeders!
I am blessed!
